1. Walking Every Day

Several men voiced that introducing walking into their daily lives benefitted their overall well-being. One claimed the exercise helped them lose weight and achieve a healthier lifestyle, while another said walking boosted their confidence.

2. Breathe Before Over Thinking

Take a moment to breathe before spiraling into harmful patterns of overthinking. Adapting healthy breathing techniques regulates heart rate and decreases anxiety.

“This works for stopping yourself from crying or getting angry and losing it as well. You have to train yourself to remember to do it, but it disrupts your thoughts/feelings and can be life-changing,” a mindful citizen commented.

3. Read a Page a Day

Of course, this doesn’t mean only reading one page a day, but starting with one a day. For example, a reader claimed they began with one page before bed, and soon they were reading 20 pages every night, expanding their mind and spending less time on their phone.

4. Changing Internal Monologue

Instead of belittling yourself and critiquing your every move, try shifting your negative tone to a positive one. Tell yourself a daily compliment, think positively, and treat yourself well. Your self-esteem will thank you.

“Talking aloud to myself in the shower about one or two positive things in my life. I suffer from anxiety and tend to always look at the negative. It’s trained my brain to be less anxious and lifted my mood,” an individual mentioned.

5. Carrying a Confident Posture

“Walking with confidence. I’m upright, looking straight, with long strides, and at a pace like I know where I’m going even if I don’t. Changing how I walk has helped with my confidence and feeling like a man that knows what he is doing even if I don’t most of the time,” one person added.

Numerous individuals said their lives improved when they quit or cut back on drinking. One man said cutting out alcohol improved his mental health and encouraged him to join a gym.

7. Listening to Audiobooks

Instead of wasting away on TikTok or filling the silence with Candy Crush, invest in audiobooks. Listening to audiobooks counts as reading, and listening assists with time management and mindfulness, impacts mental health, and is a great way to destress.

8. Self-Praising Humor

Self-deprecating humor pokes fun at oneself and brings down self-esteem and confidence. Although it is meant to be funny, the style of comedy has adverse effects. One person said switching from self-deprecating humor to self-praising humor allows them to compliment themselves more and be nicer to themself.

9. Wake Up to First Alarm

Hitting snooze on an alarm clock is a universal experience. But, one person shared that waking up to their first alarm clock makes them feel more alert and present during the day. They don’t have lingering fatigue, and getting out of bed and getting ready is easier if they pop out of the covers after the initial wake-up call.
